HOMEWORK POLICY
PTA has provided a Student Planner for your child. Daily homework will be written on the board each day and each student is responsible for copying the assignments. Parents are asked to sign the student planner weekly; it will be checked on Monday. Homework will also be posted on our digital homework calendar; however, students are responsible for homework that was written on the board. Do not rely solely on our website in case it is down and cannot be updated.
Any unfinished classwork becomes homework. Full credit will only be given for work that is completed and turned in on the day it is due. If a child is absent due to illness or other excused absence, it is due the next day following their return to class. When a child’s assignment is not completed and turned in on time, their name will be recorded on our missing homework log. Please have your child complete their work, and return it to school the following day for a Deputy to check. Multiple missing assignments will result in a parent contact.
On-Going Homework:
1. Reading: Every sixth grader should spend 30 minutes reading daily (this can include their reading from Social Studies and Science books for homework)
2. Math: Any unfinished classwork has to be taken home for homework. Other homework will be assigned daily (and yes, even on weekends).
Homework webpage: you can check your child’s daily assignment on our Leal class website. Remember, do not rely on our website in case it is down and cannot be updated. You are responsible for what is written on the classroom white board.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
1. Students are expected to be present and on time for school every day.
2. Please try to schedule doctor appointments after school.
3. If absent, please call or email the school.
